Shecky’s

  • Posted on July 13, 2011 at 12:49 AM

During my daily ritual of liking everything on Facebook and signing up for everything in the free world, I saw a post about Shecky’s.

I have a lot of navigating to do now that I’ve signed up. There is a lot about this website. It’s more than a social community for women. What really grabbed my attention is that fact you can earn goodie bags.  I’m going to go see if I can maximize my membership. I’ll leave you to read more about Shecky’s

Taken from their website…

Hello ladies,

Some of you have known us for a while and some of you are visiting us for the first time.

So you must be wondering:  “What is Shecky’s?” or “How has Shecky’s evolved?”

Take a minute to think about some of the happiest and hardest times you’ve been through in your life.

Now…imagine what those times would have been like—without your girlfriends?

At Shecky’s, we believe girlfriends are a source of strength, nurture and inspiration that women should always appreciate. That’s why we’ve made it our mission to create social experiences that empower and reward women to discover and socialize with their girlfriends.

Our Girls Night Out events have been serving this purpose for 10 years. Yup, today Shecky’s hosts up to 80 girlfriend-gathering events across America! And since we want to entertain women everywhere but can’t host events in every nook and cranny across the globe, we’ve launched a new Sheckys.com for women to discover, experience and get rewarded in a more dynamic and interactive fashion wherever they may be.

The new Sheckys.com is a different kind of community where women can:

  • Connect and contribute on life’s most consuming topics: love & relationships (No Boys Allowed), career (a.k.a. our identity outside of being a daughter, girlfriend, mother… on Work It, Girl!), the way we look and feel (Makeover Manual), how to throw the perfect party (Haute Hostess) and more.
  • Discover advice, inspirations, trends and tips from Shecky’s collection of contributors and experts… along with real stories from fellow members in the community!
  • Stay in touch with some of your favorite brands from Girls Night Out (and beyond!) by becoming a fan of their showcases, and nominate any new, undiscovered brands to us.
  • Access “members only” girlfriend events hosted by Shecky’s and our cool partners.
  • Personalize your profile—the more we understand you, the more we can cater articles, events and rewards to be the best Sheckys.com for you.

And oh my goodieness! You can earn “OMG Points” all around the site (Here’s how!). Every 5,000 OMG Points gets you a free Goodie Bag!

We hope you love the new Shecky’s and think of us your ultimate girls club or escape. We also hope you spread the word to your girlfriends that Sheckys.com is a wonderful place to congregate, spread girlfriend love and get rewarded while doing so.

May this be the beginning of a beautiful friendship!

Xoxo,
Shecky’s Team

Coupon Insert Rant

  • Posted on July 12, 2011 at 3:23 AM

I’m late in posting a “preview” of LAST Sunday’s coupon inserts. Yesterday was the first day I felt better. Anyway.. I’m still going to post them, because I need input.  I half understand the premise behind regions getting different coupons. I have a Target.  A friend of mine doesn’t have one close by. I understand some values are different. Different regions have different costs of living. What I don’t understand is out of 40 coupons (yes, I counted them) I got 13 from SmartSource. Out of 40 Redplum I got ten.

No pet coupons. (We have pets in Montana) Only a few cereal coupons. (Who doesn’t eat cereal, I mean really?) No L’Oreal coupons. (We must all be bald and faceless) I could go on and on. It’s bad enough this is my second rant on the subject.

Here is the inserts from Sunday. The ones with * by them and that are bold, are the coupons I got. Next to the expiration date I put what the value was on my coupon. (Redplum was the only one that had differences in value.)

Does anyone know if there is a preview of upcoming coupons per region? It’s frustrating when I see the preview and plan on getting X amount of papers only to be crooked.

PLEASE comment if you have the same issue or if you have suggestions.

  • Posted on July 11, 2011 at 11:14 PM

My postal carrier has been quite the busy bee lately with all of the free samples and coupons I have been receiving in the mail! This post is also going to be a bit bigger since I wasn’t able to share anything last week. I tried to take pictures of everything, but as of yet my camera skills leave a lot to be desired.

I have placed links for the ones that are still available (as of this post).

Invisible Glass + $2 rebate for new purchases.

FREE Suave lotion. 18oz. (Facebook NLA)

Chips Ahoy Gooey Cookie sample *burp* + $1 off purchase of 1 bag Chips Ahoy AND 1 Gooey Chips Ahoy 🙁

Two patches of NoBuzzZone bug patches. I don’t remember signing up for these! 😛

Other samples include, Playtex Tampons & Pampers baby wipes. I also got my $5 Bounty coupon. A coupon for FREE So Delicious Coconut Milk. (The hair dye was free, I posted about that coupon several weeks back.)

A Couponer’s Prayer

  • Posted on July 11, 2011 at 9:34 PM

*** I did not write this. I found it on “Living Rich With Coupons“.

Now I lay me down to sleep,

I pray the Lord my soul to keep,

My shopping trip I pray you Bless,

My binder is neat, no longer a mess,

The coupon limit they say is Ten,

But please let me go through the line again!

Bless the cashiers that they not be weary,

Please help me be bright and cheery!

Remind us that the money we save

will allow us to be the ones who gave.

Please Bless Cindy with Living Rich,

her help will make this go off without a hitch!

Thank you Lord for my family and friends

and thanks for triple the coupons until it ends!

Lord, be with me through the night

And keep me ’til the morning light.

AMEN!

Miz Couponista Has Returned!

I hope you all enjoyed your long weekend last week. I did for the most part. I’m not sure what I did, but in the process of doing I-don’t-know, I hurt my neck. I have a pinched nerve or ?? and have a constant throbbing headache.  Luckily I had a doctor appointment on Tuesday for other purposes. My doc checked my neck out, gave me muscle relaxers *muah* and a script for 4 weeks of physical therapy (neck message).  I’ve been out of sorts all week thanks to the meds, but over all I’m doing peachy.

As for coupons… I’m so angry at myself. I let SEVERAL expire. Coupons for stuff that I used, went to waste. OK not so much. I just added them to my Coups For Troups pile. I just wish I could have shopped and used them. *whine*

I’m sure there will be more down the road. I’m still learning the ropes here in coupon land.

I hope July is treating you well this far. I’ll be back with more posts. I got a lot of goodies in my snail mail box and can’t wait to share them.

SavingStar

  • Posted on July 10, 2011 at 10:37 PM

There is a new program called SavingStar. It’s a new paperless grocery service. No need to print or clip coupons.

I just signed up for it and I’m interested to see how it actually pans out.

There are three easy steps after you create an account.

1.CLICK:  Select the eCoupons you want and they link them to your account.

I already feel limited because I had to put my zip code in. My region gets left out of many c0upons.

2.SHOP: Use your loyalty card at checkout.  Your bill remains the same.

3. SAVE: Your money is automatically added to your SavingStar account.  You receive your savings directly from SavingStar when your account obtains a balance of $5 or more.

Once you reach $5 in savings choose your payout options.

  • Direct deposit into your bank account
  • Into your PayPal account
  • An Amazon gift card
  • An American Forests donation

In time there will be more options. This company is brand new, so keep an eye out for new ways to redeem your savings.
