PopSugar Must Have Bag ~ August 2012

  • Posted on September 1, 2012 at 1:59 AM

Introducing the POPSUGAR Must Have Bag! It’s a monthly subscription, filled with all of your favorite things. Every month, PopSugar editors will curate an exciting bag full of fun, must-have products from fashion, beauty, home decor, fitness, and more. Their customized collection will include tried-and-true classics, celebrity favorites, and brands you’ve yet to discover. Unlike most subscriptions, these are all full-sized products! Total retail is around $100. Subscriptions are $35 a month (free shipping) with other options (3mo, 6mo, and yearly).

I missed out on the first ever bag last month, but as soon as I saw what I missed I whined until Steve let me join ANOTHER subscription service. 🙂

I got my box today and holy cow it was huge! Here is what was inside.

Gotta love the cutesy tissue! Reminds me of shopping at high-end stores where they wrap your stuff in paper before they stuff it into your fancy bag. LOVE IT! I love anything that makes me feel special. Maybe spoiled is a better term. hehehe

One one hand I couldn’t wait to rip the tissue open. On the other, I didn’t want to! There is always next month to look forward to. Yes, next month. I am keeping this subscription for now.

Again… can’t get enough of the cutesy tissue! Stickers too! *thud* I am so easily amused/entertained it’s pathetic. Sad to say I tried not to rip the sticker, but I wasn’t successful. ok ok, enough of the paper talk. Here is what was inside all of the cuteness.

A PopPhysique butt toning DVD. I’m considering taking this to work! It’s a combo of Pilates, Yoga, and Micropulsing. I’M SCARED! lol Next is a box of 4 Govino unbreakable (we’ll see about that.) wine glasses. PERFECT because if I survive the DVD I’m going to need a glass of wine!  Value: $13.99

Tucked between the DVD and glasses is a bag of Bear Naked Granola (listed as an extra). I think you’re supposed to eat it before working out because it says it gives you energy. Value: $0 .45

Next to the Granola  is a bundle of coasters with a coupon (another extra) for the Benziger Family Winery. I forgot to look at the value before I put it back in the box.

The postcard is from Postagram Prints. It’s Instagram postcards! We get to try out 10 free prints. WOOHOO! (yet another extra) Value: $10.00

Under the postcard in more tissue is ANOTHER extra, Pretzel Crisps. I love these things! I eat them with Laughing Cow cheese like there is no tomorrow! Highly addictive and filling. Perfect low cal snack. You get 14 for 110 calories. I can’t eat 14 at once. *burp* Value $2.99 – 399

On top of the pretzels was the coveted Baggu bag. YAY!  This bag is tucked (as you can see) into a little pouch. Oh and it’s purple! My FAVORITE color.  Value: $9.00

This was wrapped in the package I was squeeing about earlier. Tatcha Blotting Papers. These Japanese papers absorb oil without stripping makeup. I’ve never tried blotting papers. I’m not sure I want to try these either. The handmade packaging is too darling to rip open. OH and according to the little booklet that tells you about your treats, “the delicate little blotting papers are flecked with bits of gold”. WOW Value: $12.99

Next we have two little bottles in a black netting bag from Sprout Skincare. One bottle is tea tree oil & rosewater extract cleanser. The other bottle is an exfoliant made with “Maine sea salt, oats & almonds”. I can’t wait to try them! I love tea tree oil! Value: $10 each

The last thing in my box was an Alora diffuser. The scent is Isola. The top note is Gardenia. Value: $60

So far without actually trying all of the products, I am super impressed with this box, I mean bag. 🙂 Total value is $113.98. It’s certainly worth the $35 I paid.

I have been having so much fun with all the subscription boxes I’ve been getting. It’s only been a month too! I’m so excited for what September is going to bring! I’m loving learning about new products and companies I’d never look twice at. Nothing will go to waste either. What I don’t like I can trade with other subscribers or give as gifts. If you’re even the slightest bit interested in PopSugar click here. I’ll be honest. If you end up signing up via my link I get points toward free bags. You can do the same.  ~D

Sample Box Showdown ~ Pets

  • Posted on July 23, 2012 at 8:40 AM

Yesterday I told you about beauty sample boxes, also known as subscription boxes. I could have rambled on and on, but I had to cut off somewhere. 🙂 In my new quest for the best sample/subscription boxes (I will eventually try them all.) I found some devoted to pets. So far there are only three…

BarkBox (I hope they come up with a cat version!)

$17 /6 mo, $21/3 mo or $29/mo. Free shipping. ~  Choose your dog’s size so they can customize it. Every month you will receive a box in the mail with four or more selected products and presents for your dog ~ anything from bones and treats to shampoos, leashes and innovative new gadgets! Also  included is a write-up on all of the products including the website address of each product, and in many cases, promotional codes for discounts. Cancel anytime. A portion of proceeds from each box will go to help doggies-in-need.

Pawalla $26/mo or $21/annually. Free shipping. ~ Fill out a pet profile so their pet nutritionist can  select the foods, treats, and supplements that are best for your pet. Each box contains six or more great new products including premium all-natural wet foods, delicious treats, healthy supplements, quality essentials and toys. Cancel anytime.

Best Friend Box  $45/mo. Free shipping. ~ Every month you get  four or more items. Their selections generally fall in the following categories: gourmet natural treats, posh toys, premium grooming supplies, and high-quality gear. You also get a card with information about each product, it’s manufacturer, and where to buy it. 10% of all profits are donated to cats and dogs in need.

These boxes are a bit *choke* more pricey than the beauty boxes. The only reason I’m considering subscribing to one is because I have five, yes FIVE, cats. They are spoiled! Treats & toys for them is expensive, let alone food and litter.

Would you fork out money for a pet box? Do you know of any other companies? If so, please comment and share with us.
